Thank you for your interest in the governance of ULU, the University of London Union.
ULU is an organisation unique in the UK, acting on behalf of its members at all of the
University of London colleges, schools and institutes to deliver a wide range of student focused services, as well as representation to local and national Government.
One of ULU's core strengths is that it is run by students – after all, students know best what fellow students want from the services on offer, and what other services might be of use to the student community.
To ensure that those in charge of the organisation are up-to-date with trends in the student community, the officers of the Union are elected annually from across the whole student membership of the Union. Over 100,000 students have the opportunity to vote in these elections – but also to stand for election.
The posts available fall into two categories. Sabbatical Trustees take a year out of study, or defer entry to the jobs market, in order to gain this experience and represent their peers. Sabbatical Trustees are paid a salary to ensure they are not financially disadvantaged for their service. Student Trustees continue their studies alongside their representative responsibilities.
On this website you will find information about what Trustees are required to do, how the election works (what the rules are), the timetable for the election.
All of this information will help you decide whether or not to stand for election – but may also help you identify areas you would like
Best wishes for your campaign,
Rob Park
